At Echelon Cycling Hub, we believe a great ride doesn’t start with the first pedal stroke—it starts in our workshop. We’ve developed a rigorous preparation system where every detail matters, ensuring your safety and performance through a mandatory double-check process.

Preparation checklist for every bike

1. Digital Tracking & Individual Checklist

Every preparation begins in our electronic booking system. We identify the specific bike assigned to your order and generate a Bike Preparation Form. Our mechanics follow this checklist step-by-step, recording the bike’s unique number and signing off on every completed task.

  • Damage Inspection: Our first step is a thorough check of the frame and all components for any signs of damage.
  • Frame Protection: To ensure your ride looks as good as it performs, all our bikes are protected with transparent film, keeping the paintjob spot on and factory-fresh

2. Drivetrain Matery: The Silca Wax Standard

We are obsessed with a clean, efficient drivetrain. That’s why we’ve moved away from traditional oils that attract grime.

  • Fresh Chains: If a chain has been ridden for more than 5 days, we replace it with a fresh one treated in Silca Super Secret Hot Melt Wax.
  • Short-Term Maintenance: For shorter rentals (1–2 days), we maintain the coating with Silca Super Secret Drip Wax.
  • The Result: A silent, lightning-fast drivetrain that keeps your legs and kit spotless.

3. Electronic Shifting & Battery Management

With a fleet primarily featuring electronic shifting, power management is key:

  • Battery Diagnostics: We check and charge the main internal battery (usually in the seatpost) as well as the individual batteries in the shifters.
  • E-Bike Readiness: For our electric city bikes, we ensure a 100% charge before the bike leaves the hub.

4. Personalization: Your Custom Bike Fit

We don’t expect you to adapt to the bike; we adapt the bike to you.

  • Precision Setup: Send us your Bike Fit Report or specific measurements (saddle height, setback), and we will set up the bike accordingly.
  • Pedal Options: We provide all major standards: Shimano (SPD-SL & MTB), Look Keo, Crank Brothers, Time Atak, and Speedplay.

If you pickup your bike at our hub we will make quick adjustments on indoor trainer at our bike fit studio.

5. Safety Inspection & Pressure Check

  • Braking System: We verify pad wear, rotor codition, and ensure all security pins are firmly in place.
  • Wheelset & Tires: We check for true wheels and inspect tires for any cuts or debris.
  • Pressure Log: We record the exact PSI/Bar. This log helps us identify "slow punctures" before the bike ever reaches the customer.

6. Essential Gear Included

Every bike comes fully equipped with the essentils you need for the road:

  • An under-saddle bag containing a spare tube, tire levers, and a multi-tool.
  • A frame-mounted pump.
  • A charging cable for electronic shifting and a 5ml bottle of wax lubricant for multi-day maintenance (to be returned with the bike).

7. The "Double Check" Rule

This is the cornerstone of our quality control. Once the primary mechanic completes the preparation and signs the form, a second mechanic performs an independent audit of critical safety points:

  • Bolt Check: Re-torquing the headset, stem, handlebars, saddle clamp, cranks, and thru-axles.
  • Final Safety Review: Verifying brake function, tire pressure, battery levels, and accessories.

Only when the form carries two signatures is the bike cleared for departure.

Why we do it: Because when you’re descending at speed, you should be focused on the scenery, not your equipment. At Echelon Cycling Hub, we take care of the tech so you can focus on the ride.
